Benefits

According to Australia's peak scientific research organisation, the CSIRO, wind power is the lowest cost renewable energy (www.csiro.au). Within their first few months of operation wind farms generate enough energy to cover the energy required to manufacture, transport, install and maintain them.

The energy and greenhouse benefits of the Chepstowe Wind Farm will be significant. A wind farm of 6 MW is capable of making a valuable contribution to Australia’s renewable energy target of 20% by 2020. Key statistics are:

Renewable energy production per annum
Equivalent power consumption
Annual greenhouse gas abatement
Equivalent number of cars off the road
Equivalent number of trees planted

20,000 MWh
4,000 households
20,000 tonnes of CO2
5,000 cars
28,000 trees
